A family with a toddler boy about to be moved out of his nursery. They wanted something he could have fun and grow in over the following years. They had been overwhelmed with ideas online and couldn't agree on anything themselves

Design Process
I felt that during the design process for this particular room I needed to involve the little boy. He was almost 3 and transitioning from his safe nursery space to his "big boy" bedroom could be quite daunting. He was able to tell me his favourite colours were green and blue. And although he wasn't into any particular theme, eg, dinosaurs. I found he was very proud of his artwork.
During the on-site consultation I noticed an indoor climbing frame with slide/climbing plinth which I was able to work into my design. Creating a 3D plan for the room allowed the family to see how it would all fit together.
Final Delivery
Working with the favourite colours of blue and green. I went for deep tones and a white with a blue/green hue that pulled the blue and green together perfectly. These colours also have longevity in them allowing for growth as well as providing a sense of calm. I used them in a geometric-colour-blocking design. I also designed some bespoke storage. Instead of wasted space above furniture like a chest of drawers, I opted for purpose built storage to allow for a reading nook platform. I also requested a bar for the slide/climbing plinth to hook on to so the little boy could play on his slide and climbing frame in his room as and when he wanted.
